Case study: Hasbro
Hasbro is the world’s leading toy manufacturer
The toy market is fueled by innovation with some 90% of toys sold each year being new lines. That puts a huge pressure on the organisation to deliver a continuous NPD cycle. Creating inspiration for this continuous creativity is a challenge.
To help stimulate this in new ways, Hasbro came to Brandface searching provocation and challenge to kick off the NPD cycle. Our time was spent developing high quality stimulus with a presentation looking at customer trends in a way designed to challenge the assumptions and assumed wisdom that often grows into existence in corporate cultures.
This presentation was coupled with thought provoking, ‘we can’t do that - can we?’ ideas which provided a high energy start to a series of workshops run with multi-disciplinary teams throughout the company.
As well as providing a rich source of ideas to be tested, the presentation itself became a roadshow favourite throughout the European organisation, encouraging everyone (not just those ‘in charge’ of ideation) to think more openly and disruptively about new ideas.
Idea generation
We believe that there are two key elements to running a successful idea generation process in a better way that clients could do for themselves.
The first is about stimulus and so we will think around an area to provide some fresh provocations and thought starters, often cross fertilising our experience of another category with the demands of yours.
The second is about moderation skills to keep people motivated and dig deeper than the obvious initial response to find new and fresh ideas.
